R-1234yf is a refrigerant with a low Global Warming Potential (GWP), gradually replacing R-134a.

R-1234yf is a new generation HFO refrigerant that combines environmental benefits with excellent cooling performance. The majority of automotive manufacturers have already begun producing car models that use R-1234yf in their air conditioning systems.

R-1234yf has a GWP of 4, resulting in much lower emissions into the atmosphere compared to R-134a.
The R-134a refrigerant previously selected by the automotive industry has a GWP of 1,430, while the new R-1234yf refrigerant has a GWP of 150. Based on CO2, which has a GWP of 1, CO2 stays in the atmosphere for 1 day, while the new R-1234yf refrigerant stays for 11 days, and R-134a remains for 13 years!
