This valve must be equipped with an orifice according to the tonnage of your installation (ask us!).

The thermostatic expansion valve meters the refrigerant flowing into the evaporator, using a thermal sensing element to detect and transmit the superheat. The valve opens or closes in response to the thermal element.

The thermostatic expansion valve maintains a constant superheat within the evaporator. Excessive superheat is undesirable, but a small amount is necessary with this type of valve to prevent liquid refrigerant from leaving the evaporator.

Excessive pressure drop in the refrigeration circuit can cause insufficient refrigerant flow through the valve and inadequate feeding of the evaporator. Using a thermostatic expansion valve with an external equalizer compensates for the pressure drop across the evaporator. The external equalizer line is connected to the suction line downstream of the expansion valve’s sensing bulb.
