SCREW CONNECTION AT THE ORIFICE AND 1/2" SOLDER CONNECTION ON THE OTHER SIDE (TOWARDS THE EVAPORATOR).

TES = EXTERNAL EQUALIZER.

The thermostatic expansion valve regulates the flow of refrigerant to the evaporator, using a thermal sensing element to detect and transmit the superheat. The valve opens or closes in response to the thermal sensing element.

The thermostatic expansion valve maintains a constant superheat within the evaporator. Excessive superheat is undesirable, but a small amount is necessary to prevent liquid refrigerant from leaving the evaporator.

Excessive pressure drop in the refrigeration circuit can cause insufficient refrigerant supply to the evaporator by the valve. The use of a thermostatic expansion valve with an external equalizer compensates for the pressure drop across the evaporator. The external equalizer line is connected to the suction line downstream of the expansion valve sensing bulb.
