How the SPECTROLINE Leak Detection Lamp Works

SPECTROLINE’s patented method is a masterpiece in liquid leak detection: simple, fast, accurate, safe, reliable, and low-cost. The AR-GLO fluorescent additive is introduced into an operating air conditioning or refrigeration system, circulating in perfect harmony with the refrigerant and lubricant. When the refrigerant escapes from the leak point, the AR-GLO remains. When the area is then examined with one of SPECTROLINE’s high-power UV lamps, the additive reacts and reveals all leaks by glowing with a yellow-green fluorescence.

AR-GLO Additives are Safe & Effective

They work in air conditioning and refrigeration systems of any size and are compatible with all commonly used refrigerants and blends, whether mineral oil, polyester, alkylbenzene, or PAG lubricants are used. AR-GLO additives are widely accepted by the largest compressor manufacturers such as CARRIER, TRANE, BITZER, FRASCOLD, and by refrigeration and air conditioning component producers as well as refrigerant manufacturing industries. They have also been tested and approved as safe during refrigerant recovery and recycling processes by companies such as Allied-Signal, DuPont National, etc. AR-GLO additives are currently used in over 10 million systems worldwide.

Precise Leak Detection in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems

Depending on the system size, most leaks can be found within a few minutes or at most a few hours after adding AR-GLO. The only exceptions are very small leaks, which previously would have been impossible to detect, as they are so slow that it may take several days for them to become visible. The SPECTROLINE detection system has been proven to identify leaks as small as 3.5 g per year in areas such as pipes, joints, flanges, fittings, valves, compressors, evaporators, condensers, and even in areas where parts are moving.
